People Who
Mean It.
Tampa Bay's leading contemporary art gallery, built by working artists for people who want to actually connect with the work they bring home.
Building Something Real.
Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery was founded by Guillo Pérez 3 and Marcolina Mercado with a single conviction: that museum-caliber art belongs in real people's lives, not just institutions. Guillo is a Dominican-American expressionist oil painter. Marcolina is a legal professional turned curator. Together they built something neither could have made alone.
Guillo's path took him through galleries in South Beach, Chelsea, and New York long before Marcolina's existed. When he and Marcolina founded the gallery in 2021, they built it in historic Ybor City, and it has grown into one of Tampa Bay's most distinctive cultural destinations. Marcolina's operates as a private showroom by appointment, with curated exhibitions and events throughout Tampa Bay, as the gallery prepares for its next permanent flagship space.
Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery was created to feel different from the traditional art world: warm, welcoming, and alive. That hasn't changed.
“I was born and I am a product of art. It’s my vehicle to connect me to humanity.”
Guillo Pérez 3
One Practice.
Born in Santo Domingo and raised in Queens, New York, Guillo Pérez 3 is the third generation of an unbroken artistic lineage. His grandfather, Maestro Guillo Pérez, founded the Escuela Taller Guillo Pérez and is recognized by the U.S. State Department's Art in Embassies program. His father, master painter Willy Pérez, carried the practice forward. Guillo trained at his grandfather's school and at Wood Tobé-Coburn in New York, studying under master painter Vidal Suárez, art historian Laura Gil, design mentor George Gaw, and master retoucher Bob Serpe.
He co-founded Artist Revolution Studios in South Beach and Chelsea, ran ESP Gallery in Chelsea for six years, exhibited twice at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, and presented work at Art Basel Miami Beach. The New York Times named him a Star Maker. Back in Tampa, he was mentored by the late Theo Wujcik, the celebrated Ybor City painter and longtime USF Graphicstudio director whose work is held in the Tampa Museum of Art's permanent collection. In 2022, The Straz Center commissioned him for a mural connected to their production of The Little Match Girl, and during the interview their team described him simply as art royalty. In 2011 he founded Monday Night Art Class in Bushwick, Brooklyn, an accessible art class that is still running fifteen years later, now continued at Marcolina's in Ybor City.
Today, he works from Tampa, Florida, where he has developed a personal artistic philosophy he calls Bauhaus Budō, the battle-hardened way. It is a synthesis of the Bauhaus pursuit of the total artwork and the meditative discipline of martial arts. Geometry as structure. Intuition as movement. Color as emotional force.
His subjects include mythic figures like Poseidon, Apollo, and the Taíno moon goddess Atabey, alongside intimate portraits of South Tampa's Victorian architecture and the quietly heroic moments of everyday Dominican life. His work is held in private collections in over 48 countries.

Cultural Champions.
In 2025, Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery was recognized by Tampa Bay Business and Wealth Magazine as a Philanthropists of the Year Finalist, the only Ybor City honoree among all nominees. The recognition reflects the gallery's sustained commitment to arts access, cultural enrichment, and community building in Tampa Bay.
It is an honor we carry seriously. Not as a trophy, but as a reminder of why we built this in the first place: because Tampa deserved a gallery that felt like home.
