Original oil painting by Blake Emory · Painter, sculptor, and filmmaker · Available at Marcolina’s Fine Arts Gallery, Tampa, Florida · Ships worldwide
A blue figure sits turned to one side in Claudere Fenestram, bare-chested and built like a classical statue, with the head of a horse. The head is in profile and thrown back a little, mouth open and teeth showing, caught mid-cry or mid-snarl. Behind him a huge sphere of swirling blues, greens, and purples sits inside a halo of orange and yellow flame, against a stormy blue-gray sky that darkens to red at the lower left. A heavy red cloth pools over his lap, and one hand lifts a fold of it up toward his shoulder.
It is hard to say what he is reacting to. He could be rising from the seat or settling into it, pulling the cloth up to cover himself or letting it drop. The fire behind him can read as a crown, or as a world burning at his back. The title, Latin for to close the window, pushes toward the second reading: someone turning away from something, or deciding not to look.
Everything is composed except the head. The body is calm, muscled, and still, the cloth falls in slow heavy folds, and then the mouth is open. That gap between the controlled body and the open mouth is where the painting lives, and the thick oil, especially in the flames and the red folds, keeps pulling you back to it.

Collector’s Note
At 50 by 60 inches, this is a large original, and it behaves like a presence in the room. The saturated blue body set against the red cloth and the ring of fire gives it a strong focal point, and the head turned away makes people stop and look for what it is reacting to. It suits a wall with space around it. We recommend seeing it in person or on a virtual viewing, since the flames and the folds of red change with the light.

About the Artist
Blake Emory was born in 1983 and raised in Plant City, Florida, in a family of artists, inventors, and musicians. Alongside his brother James, creativity was the family language: music, theater, sculpture, set design, and mural and canvas painting, all treated as one continuous practice. He sold his first drawing in third grade and has not really stopped since.
Painting and sculpture became the throughline. He debuted his Zebra Love Collection at Art Basel Miami in 2014, made the life-size Babe Ruth sculpture now at the St. Petersburg Museum of History, and has painted large murals across Tampa Bay and New Mexico. His giant octopus mural at Cage Brewing in St. Petersburg, painted with Guillo Pérez 3, was named by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay among the area’s must-see murals.
He also works in film. His short The Ethereal: Episode I was shown at the Salvador Dalí Museum and premiered at Tampa Theater in 2025, and a second episode is in production. He lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his original paintings and sculpture are available through Marcolina’s Fine Arts Gallery.
