Original acrylic painting by Guillo Pérez 3 · 16 × 20 in · Dominican-American expressionist · Available at Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery, Tampa, Florida · Ships worldwide
This is one of Guillo Pérez 3's most personal paintings, a 16 by 20 inch acrylic portrait of his niece during her transition, painted from a place of closeness rather than observation from a distance. The connection between artist and subject is part of what gives the piece its weight.
Guillo works in bold, contrasting color here, using shifts in hue and dynamic linework to suggest movement and change rather than a fixed, static likeness. The attention paid to expression and posture keeps the painting grounded in a real person rather than a symbol.
It is a quiet but direct statement about acceptance and self-discovery, made by an artist painting someone he loves.

Collector's Note
This piece carries more personal weight than most of Guillo's other work, and that is part of what makes it meaningful to collect. It suits someone looking for a painting with a real story behind it, not just a striking image.

Guillo Pérez 3
About the Artist
Guillo Pérez 3 is a Dominican-American painter whose work merges the strength of his Caribbean heritage with the edge of his New York upbringing. As the grandson of celebrated master Guillo Pérez, he carries a powerful artistic lineage, yet his voice is unmistakably his own.
Working between New York and Tampa, Guillo developed his signature philosophy, Bauhaus Budō, blending Bauhaus structure with the discipline of martial arts. His paintings pulse with geometry, myth, color, and movement.
His work has been exhibited across the U.S. and the Caribbean, and he has helped build creative communities in Miami, New York, and Tampa. The New York Times recognized him as a "Star Maker."
