Original acrylic painting by Guillo Pérez 3 · 16 × 20 in · Dominican-American expressionist · Available at Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery, Tampa, Florida · Ships worldwide
Guillo Pérez 3 rarely paints without color, which is what makes this early acrylic stand out. Completed in 2000 at 16 by 20 inches, it is one of the few works he has done entirely in black and white. Removing color forces the composition to carry itself on form alone, and the rooster is reduced to its essential shape, gesture, and posture.
The brushwork stays loose and expressive even without color to lean on. Tonal contrast does the work color would normally do, giving the bird real presence. It reads less like a finished statement and more like a study, an early exercise in discipline that carried into his later work.
For collectors interested in where Guillo's style started, this piece offers a rare look at the foundation, before Bauhaus Budō had a name.

Collector's Note
As one of Guillo's earliest surviving works, this piece is priced accordingly and offers collectors an affordable way into his early period. It pairs well with his more recent color work as a study in contrast.

Guillo Pérez 3
About the Artist
Guillo Pérez 3 is a Dominican-American painter whose work merges the strength of his Caribbean heritage with the edge of his New York upbringing. As the grandson of celebrated master Guillo Pérez, he carries a powerful artistic lineage, yet his voice is unmistakably his own.
Working between New York and Tampa, Guillo developed his signature philosophy, Bauhaus Budō, blending Bauhaus structure with the discipline of martial arts. His paintings pulse with geometry, myth, color, and movement.
His work has been exhibited across the U.S. and the Caribbean, and he has helped build creative communities in Miami, New York, and Tampa. The New York Times recognized him as a "Star Maker."
