Rooster — Guillo Pérez 3

Original • Acrylic on Canvas • Stretched & unframed

Rooster by Guillo Pérez 3 is a 16 x 20 inch monochrome acrylic painting created in 2000. Rendered entirely in black and white, this work distills the rooster to its essential form, gesture, posture, and presence, allowing contrast and movement to carry the composition.

By removing color, Pérez sharpens the viewer’s focus on structure and features. Expressive brushwork and tonal variation give the rooster a commanding intensity, transforming a familiar symbol into a study of discipline, balance, and inner strength. Light and shadow create tension and clarity, revealing the artist’s early command of form and restraint.

About the Artist — Guillo Pérez III

Guillo Pérez III is a Dominican–American painter whose work merges Caribbean heritage with contemporary discipline. As the grandson of celebrated master Guillo Pérez, he carries a powerful artistic lineage while forging a voice that is distinctly his own.

Working from New York and Tampa, Guillo developed his signature philosophy, Bauhaus Budō, blending Bauhaus structure with the discipline of martial arts. His paintings explore symbolism, balance, and movement through bold yet deliberate execution.

His work has been exhibited across the U.S. and the Caribbean, and he has helped cultivate creative communities in New York, Miami, and Tampa. The New York Times recognized him as a “Star Maker.”
