Limited edition lithograph on canvas by Blake Emory · Painter, sculptor, and filmmaker · Available at Marcolina’s Fine Arts Gallery, Tampa, Florida · Ships worldwide

Shauna 1 is black and white zebra stripes from edge to edge, bent and folded so the whole surface seems to move. Look closely and a woman’s silhouette appears inside the pattern. The only color is a single glossy red high heel at the lower right, sitting on the stripes, and Blake’s signature, EMORY, sits at the lower left.

The shoe is the clue. It tells you what you are looking at before the stripes do: someone is here, or was a second ago. Once you know to look, the folds start to read as a body, and the pattern stops being background and becomes the figure itself. It is a painting about hiding in plain sight, and the one red heel is what makes you look twice.

This is a limited edition lithograph on canvas, number 4 of an edition of 100, from Blake’s Zebra Love Collection, the body of work he debuted at Art Basel Miami in 2014.

Collector’s Note

This is a limited edition print, not an original painting, and it is number 4 of 100. That makes it one of the more accessible ways to own a piece of Blake’s best-known work, and a good first piece for someone starting a collection. The tall, narrow format suits a hallway, a stairwell, or the wall beside a window, and the black and white pattern with one red accent reads clearly from across a room.

About the Artist

Blake Emory was born in 1983 and raised in Plant City, Florida, in a family of artists, inventors, and musicians. Alongside his brother James, creativity was the family language: music, theater, sculpture, set design, and mural and canvas painting, all treated as one continuous practice. He sold his first drawing in third grade and has not really stopped since.

Painting and sculpture became the throughline. He debuted his Zebra Love Collection at Art Basel Miami in 2014, made the life-size Babe Ruth sculpture now at the St. Petersburg Museum of History, and has painted large murals across Tampa Bay and New Mexico. His giant octopus mural at Cage Brewing in St. Petersburg, painted with Guillo Pérez 3, was named by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay among the area’s must-see murals.

He also works in film. His short The Ethereal: Episode I was shown at the Salvador Dalí Museum and premiered at Tampa Theater in 2025, and a second episode is in production. He lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his original paintings and sculpture are available through Marcolina’s Fine Arts Gallery.
