Original oil painting by Guillo Pérez 3 · 16 × 20 in · Dominican-American expressionist · Available at Marcolina's Fine Arts Gallery, Tampa, Florida · Ships worldwide
The rooster is one of the most recognized symbols of Ybor City, and Guillo Pérez 3 leans into that history directly in this 16 by 20 inch oil painting. A single rooster stands in profile, rendered with loose, confident brushwork, set against a background of warm reds and yellows that suggest sun, brick, and the general heat of the neighborhood.
Guillo keeps the composition simple on purpose. There is no attempt to build out a full street scene, just the bird, its texture, and the color pressing in around it. That focus puts the weight on gesture.
The rooster has long stood in for pride and resilience in Ybor City's own folklore, and this painting reads as Guillo's shorthand for the neighborhood itself, direct, warm and local.

Collector's Note
This is one of the more accessible entry points into Guillo's Ybor City work, both in price and in scale. The subject reads clearly from across a room, which makes it a strong first piece for someone building a collection, while the brushwork itself rewards a closer look.

Guillo Pérez 3
About the Artist
Guillo Pérez 3 is a Dominican-American painter whose work merges the strength of his Caribbean heritage with the edge of his New York upbringing. As the grandson of celebrated master Guillo Pérez, he carries a powerful artistic lineage, yet his voice is unmistakably his own.
Working between New York and Tampa, Guillo developed his signature philosophy, Bauhaus Budō, blending Bauhaus structure with the discipline of martial arts. His paintings pulse with geometry, myth, color, and movement.
His work has been exhibited across the U.S. and the Caribbean, and he has helped build creative communities in Miami, New York, and Tampa. The New York Times recognized him as a "Star Maker."
